Queen Letizia 'pretty' in floral dress as she misses her grandmother’s funeral

Queen Letizia and King Felipe V, together with their daughters Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia, attended a ceremony at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, in Spain.

The Carolina Herrera dress belongs to the 2018 Resort collection and is currently sold out.

On this occasion, the queen opted for classic makeup with a dash of mascara.

She decided to keep her jewellery to a minimum, sporting a pair of earrings by Spanish designer Tous.

Queen Letizia styled her hair into an effortlessly chic messy bun.

DON’T MISS

Princess Leonor, who has recently moved to Wales to complete her studies, attended the ceremony wearing a beautiful pink dress and nude heels while her younger sister, Princess Sofia, donned a light blue dress and nude sandals.

Fans took to social media to comment on Queen Letizia’s fashion choice.

“Such a pretty summer dress,” said one fan.

“Queen Letizia was looking flawless in the Carolina Herrera dress,” commented another one.

However, the queen has been highly criticised for not attending the funeral of her beloved grandmother who passed away yesterday.

Queen Letizia and her grandmother Fenchu Alvarez were very close.

However, neither her, King Felipe V or their daughters have attended the funeral, which took place this morning in Madrid.

It is known that King Felipe was in Peru at an official event.

The king was seen wearing a black suit and tie earlier today.

The Spanish royal house hasn’t disclosed the reason why the queen missed the funeral.

A Spanish journalist explained: “It was not on purpose. She would have gone to that place, it would have attracted attention, she did not want to divert attention and not generate a small mess of structure and security.”

However, another journalist replied to that saying: “With all due respect, the explanation does not convince me.”
