‘The Flash’ first look: Ben Affleck’s Batman gets new suit, Batcycle

Batman has a cool, new look — and ride.

Set photos from the production of “The Flash” reveal the first look at Ben Affleck’s Batman — or his stunt double — which features a new and upgraded Batsuit, along with a ginormous Batcycle.

The film, which began production in England this spring and was shooting in Glasgow on Monday, stars Ezra Miller, 28, in the lead role. Affleck, 48, will play one version of Batman, while Michael Keaton, 69, will return to the role of the caped crusader he played in the 1989 Tim Burton film.

Affleck last suited up as Bruce Wayne in 2020’s “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”

On Monday, a number of streets in the Scottish city were closed as an apparent Batman body double — Affleck himself was busy yachting with rekindled flame Jennifer Lopez, 52, over the weekend — drove the Batcycle. Members of the production crew were seen pushing the giant bike along the street.

Keaton was previously spotted filming in London but has yet to be seen in his Batman costume. Affleck also has not been seen on set.

“[Affleck’s] Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong, which is his masculinity–because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline — but he’s also very vulnerable,” director Andy Muschietti told Vanity Fair last year. “He knows how to deliver from the inside out, that vulnerability. He just needs a story that allows him to bring that contrast, that balance.”

"The Flash," directed by Andy Muschietti, will premiere Nov. 4, 2022 and will feature both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as versions of Batman.

“The Flash” will introduce general audiences to the multiverse, or a shifting number of alternate universes that coexist in DC comics. In the film, The Flash travels back in time to prevent his mother’s murder, which leads to a string of unintentional consequences, such as meeting Batman in a parallel dimension.

“The Flash” was originally scheduled for release in 2018, but a troubled development process led to its delay by a few years. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein left the project in July 2019, and in November 2019 it was confirmed that Andy Muschietti would become the new director. The premiere was rescheduled even further back from July 1 to Nov. 4, 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In June, Muschietti teased another Batman outfit, this time of Keaton’s Batman costume insignia with drops of blood on it.

Affleck and Keaton will be joined by Sasha Calle as Supergirl and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West.
