Conor McGregor and unlikely friend Justin Bieber enjoy whiskey 'breakfast of champions'

Conor McGregor and unlikely friend Justin Bieber looked like a winning pair when they joined forces to knock back a ‘breakfast of champions’ on Friday.

The Irish brawler, 33, and Friends singer, 27, were in full relaxation mode as they drank whiskey and lounged in an upscale cabana at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

And the sportsman was seen sitting with a bandaged leg after he fractured his tibia in the closing seconds of the opening round against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in Las Vegas.

Justin was shirtless, showing off his heavily tattooed chest while clad in tan chinos on bottom, while Conor sported neon yellow swim shorts.

It was hard to miss the bulky cast around the featherweight’s leg, which he broke during his recent high-profile fight against rival Poirier.

Conor, who could be out of the ring for a year, tried to keep positive despite the injury as he was seen smiling alongside Justin.

The MMA star has been walking on crutches and will continue to do so for the next six weeks following the nasty injury.

Justin offered some words of encouragement for the mixed martial artist in his caption, saying: ‘It’s about how you get back up.’

He also congratulated Biebs on his new Balenciaga campaign and seemed to hint at a secret event, telling him: ‘Can’t wait to get to the show tomorrow! Legends unite!’

Conor struck an equally optimistic tone in his own post, writing: ‘JB and Big Foot, we rule Beverly Hills! God bless my brother! Backed by the highest power!’

Conor now faces a long road to recovery, with UFC president Dana White convinced that the former two-weight champion will be unable to compete for 12 months.

‘I think they just released him right now from the hospital about 10, 15 minutes ago,’ Dana told TMZ Sports

‘He’ll be in [Los Angeles] for a little while. I don’t know if he’s gonna fly home, or what he’s gonna do.

Asked when the 33-year-old will be back, Dana said: ‘He’ll be back in a year.’

McGregor took to social media after surgery and said: ‘Just out of the surgery room, everything went to plan, everything went perfect and I’m feeling tremendous.

‘We’ve got six weeks on a crutch now and then we begin to build back. A clean break of the tibia and it was not to be.

‘Dustin, you can celebrate that illegitimate win all you want but you’ve done nothing in there. That second round would have shown all.’

Conor broke his leg while throwing a kick that landed on Poirier’s elbow late in the first round.

His coach John Kavanagh revealed that the athlete had suffered an ankle problem in training camp that could have been a contributing factor.

He said: ‘There might have been something in there. It seems unusual that a young, healthy, fit man can wrap his foot around an elbow without there being something there before.

‘But you can play those sorts of guessing games all day long.’

Though Justin appeared happy to plug Conor’s Proper Number 12 Whiskey, he’s previously spoken about his struggles with alcohol addiction.

Bieber revealed that he first tried marijuana when he was just 13 after rocketing to fame as a child when he was discovered on YouTube.

After becoming dependent on weed, Justin began to drink lean — a narcotic substance often called purple drank or sizzurp — as well as taking pills, doing Molly, and trying mushrooms.

Speaking about his addictions he said: ‘It was just an escape for me. I was young. My experience was in front of cameras and I had a different level of exposure.’

Justin eventually decided to get sober because he was ‘dying’, and said people aren’t aware of how ‘serious’ his addictions were.

‘I basically said to myself, “God, if you are real, you get me through this season of stopping these pills and stuff, and if you do, I’ll do the rest of the work.”

‘I never did the actual work. I got off the pills but never went to the root of everything so I just circled back around which most people do.’

Recently it seems that Bieber has been embracing things in moderation, seen stocking up on products at the Wonderbrett recreational cannabis store in Los Angeles earlier this month.
