Joe Biden praises China dictator Xi Jinping in bizarre public approval 'He's a bright guy'

Joe Biden hosted a presidential town hall in Ohio where he answered questions from the audience and CNN’s Don Lemon about COVID-19, the economy, and his new infrastructure plan. But when discussing the issue of China, President Biden bizarrely complemented Xi Jinping despite the US and China being at loggerheads over cyber-attacks and other political and economic issues. Mr Biden also made several gaffes during his town hall appearance where he was seen rambling about the vaccine and “aliens”.

During the town hall, Mr Biden addressed the issue of China and told the conference he has interacted with Xi Jinping and shared his opinions of the Chinese leader.

He said: “I talked to Xi Jinping, who I know well but we don’t agree on a lot of things.

“He’s a bright and a really tough guy.”

Viewers were not impressed by the off-the-cuff compliment and commented on the clip which was shared online.

One wrote: “Next thing Joe will want Chinese as our second language!”

Despite the strange compliment, Mr Biden has attacked China for recent cyber-attacks and accused the Chinese Government of protecting criminals.

He said China was “worse” than Russia who he says at least helps crackdown on cybercriminals in their country.

Mr Biden told reporters at the White House: “My understanding is that the Chinese government, not unlike the Russian Government, is not doing this themselves but are protecting those who are doing it and maybe even accommodating them being able to do it – that may be the difference.”

Later in the town hall, he explained long-term inflation was slim but said fears of inflation were legitimate.

Mr Biden also called for further investigation into the Capitol Hill riots on January 6 which saw protesters storm US Congress.

He told viewers: “I don’t care if you think I’m Satan reincarnate, the fact is you can’t look at that television and say, nothing happened on the 6th.”
