‘Bachelorette’ Star Kaitlyn Bristowe Slammed for “Privileged Problems”

The Bachelorette alum Kaitlyn Bristowe says she was called out by fans who accused her of complaining about “privileged problems” on Instagram over the weekend. E News reports that Bristowe, who is co-hosting the current season of The Bachelorette, received backlash after she posted a tearful video on social media saying she was “so lonely” without her fiancé, Jason Tartick, and was unable to see her family in Canada.

“I have been so emotional the last few days. It’s so hard sometimes being away,” Bristowe said in a July 17 Instagram Story. “I haven’t been back to Canada in two years. I was FaceTiming my dad today, and I’m feeling so lonely. And obviously, Jason left, and he is having family time, and I was supposed to be there, and I couldn’t because of work stuff. And I’m just missing them, and I miss the dogs, and I’m just having a moment.”

She added, “I need a show to cheer me up—a movie, a series, something. I’ve already watched Ted Lasso, so anything that cheers people up, because I’m just missing so many people and dogs right now.”

After asking her followers for recommendations, Bristowe said she received the opposite of uplifting messages. Instead, her DMs were flooded with criticism of her “problems,” Bristowe said in an update to her Story.

“I mean, I shouldn’t have even asked for movie recommendations because then that forces me to go into my DMs, and then I see things like people saying ‘have some dignity,’ ‘pull it together,’ ‘stop crying,’ ‘privileged problems lol,’” she said. “I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah, I forgot. That’s what I got in my DMs.’”

Bristowe, who competed on The Bachelor in 2015 before starring on her own season of The Bachelorette later that year, is currently sharing hosting duties with Tayshia Adams on Katie Thurston’s season after Chris Harrison left the franchise.
