Antiques Roadshow: Spy radio disguised as toolbox found in garden shed worth huge sum

“I’ve looked that up and that is an amateur radio call sign from 1948.

“Only using Morse Code, but I think what it was, he has bought this in an Army surplus because he knows about radios and knows how to make this things work.

“Some of those missions that they undertook were definitely going to be fatal,” he discussed. “It’s actually a really quite special piece of equipment.

“And it’s worth somewhere between £10,000 and £15,000. That’s not a bad toolbox to find in the shed, is it?

“This is a real treat, this is a real piece of World War II history from the very darkest places across Europe that you can never imagine,” Mark concluded.

Antiques Roadshow is available to watch on the BBC iPlayer now.
