Secret meanings behind Kate Middleton's jewellery – how she sends messages with jewels

And it seems there have been several times Kate’s jewellery appeared to have secret meanings and show support for various causes.

EURO 2020 FINAL:

During the epic match between Italy and England, Kate showed her support for the England team by sporting a bold pair of huge red, beaded £65 earrings from Blaiz.

She paired them with a white blazer from Zara and used the England colours to show her support for the historic final.

This fun pair of earrings were a step away from the usual royal jewels which fans expect from the Duchess of Cambridge.

Instead, they are an example of Kate’s ability to have fun with her jewellery selection, and the earrings have been in high demand since the match.

A TRIBUTE TO HER CHILDREN:

Kate will often wear jewellery as a tribute to her children, especially when they are not able to join.

On an official tour of Scotland in May 2021 Kate wore a gold necklace by Daniella Draper featuring her children’s initials: G, C, and L.

PRINCESS DIANA’S SAPPHIRE ENGAGEMENT RING:

Kate’s sapphire engagement ring in an oval cut holds an incredibly special meaning as it was originally given to Lady Diana Spencer by Prince Charles in 1981.

Kate’s oval cut sapphire ring is perhaps the most iconic royal engagement ring and holds hidden meaning as the ring was originally given to Lady Diana when she got engaged to Prince Charles in 1981.

Ben Jarret from H&T Pawnbrokers said: “The ring features a 12-carat oval blue sapphire, cut into facets, and surrounded by fourteen solitaire diamonds and the setting is made from 18K white gold.

“On their tenth anniversary, we estimate that the ring is now worth £390,000 based on the value of the stone and band, although with the ring being an iconic cultural piece it could fetch hundreds of thousands more if it ever reached auction.”

This is a massive increase from costing £28,000 when purchased in 1981.

HARNESSING CRYSTALS:

Kate will often wear crystals when performing royal duties.

When talking with nursing students on zoom during the pandemic Kate wore a deep blue Lapis Lazuli pendant.

The blue stone is said to protect against anxiety and deep stress and offer harmony and inner peace to whoever wears it.

PEARLS POST-BIRTH:

In 2018 Kate gave birth to Prince Louis, and stepped out of St Mary’s Hospital to present him to the public.

For this special occasion, Kate chose to wear simple pearl earrings.

Pearls are known for their calming properties and allegedly protect the wearer and attract wealth.

According to legends, pearls are meant to keep your children safe while strengthening your relationships, which makes sense why Kate would choose these particular earrings to wear for this vulnerable occasion post-birth.

HONOURING HER ROUTES:

Kate also honoured the Middleton’s on her wedding day.

The Duchess wore a pair of pear-cut diamond drop earrings from Robinson Pelham which were gifted to her by her parents and were symbolic of her family ties.

PRINCE PHILLIP’S FUNERAL:

The Duchess of Cambridge attended the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip on 17th April 2021.

Her jewellery included a pair of diamond-and-pearl drop earrings and a pearl necklace, both from Queen Elizabeth II’s private collection, which many fans saw as an ode to her Majesty on a difficult occasion.
