Manchester United’s amazing 25-man squad if John Murtough seals four more transfers

Manchester United have enjoyed a fruitful start to the transfer window so far. Tom Heaton has returned from Aston Villa, while Jadon Sancho has touched down from Borussia Dortmund. So Express Sport will now take a look at how the Red Devils’ 25-man Premier League squad could look next season if John Murtough makes four more signings.

Goalkeepers: Henderson, De Gea, Heaton

David De Gea has been linked with a move away from United but that’s not likely to happen now.

Paris Saint-Germain have snapped up Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan, while Juventus lack the financial muscle at the current moment in time.

Therefore, De Gea will be competing with Dean Henderson for a starting berth next term.

United have loaned out Nathan Bishop and, while they’ve given Lee Grant a new contract, he isn’t likely to be registered.

Instead, it will be Tom Heaton keeping the pair on their toes after arriving on a free transfer from Aston Villa.

Defenders: Wan-Bissaka, TRIPPIER, Maguire, VARANE, Lindelof, TORRES, Shaw, Telles

United could lose Eric Bailly this summer.

Though the Ivory Coast international signed a new contract in May, there’s been talk of a potential swap deal that would see Villarreal’s Pau Torres move in the opposite direction.

Torres could still make the move, but United are widely expected to secure the signing of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

They also want a right-back, too, amid ongoing interest in Atletico Madrid and England star Kieran Trippier.

So with those three players arriving, it would certainly bolster Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s options as he plots a path to Premier League title glory.

Midfielders: Fred, McTominay, Matic, Camavinga, Pogba, Van de Beek, Fernandes

United could make a sole signing in central midfield.

And they’re big admirers of Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who has just a year left on his contract over in France.

There’s been talk of a potential move away for Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek but the club are confident both players will still be there by the time the transfer window slams shut.

Nemanja Matic, Fred and Scott McTominay would be good squad players to keep, even if the former is approaching the twilight years of his career.

And United could free up space by loaning out young guns like Hannibal Mejbri and Dylan Levitt.

Forwards: Rashford, Cavani, Sancho, Greenwood, Amad, James, Martial

United have finally landed Sancho.

They’ve tried, and failed, three times in the past. But, this summer, they’ve finally struck gold at the fourth attempt.

Facundo Pellistri should be loaned out again, with Deportivo Alaves keen to land him. But that’s not expected to happen for Amad, who Solskjaer has great belief in.

Other than that, the rest of United’s attack should be consist of Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Daniel James and Anthony Martial.

Cavani deciding to hang around until 2022 at the earliest, the club have decided to put their pursuit of Erling Haaland on hold until next year instead.

Solskjaer reveals loan plans

Solskjaer has revealed United will look to loan out their younger players once the experienced heads return for training.

“Gradually, more and more players from the Euros will join in,” Solskjaer explained.

“They’ll [the youngsters] get a taste of some football. Then roundabouts early August, some will go on loan.

“We’ve already lined up a few and some of them are still in discussions between us and the players about where is the best place to go.”
