Madonna posts in support of Britney Spears: 'Slavery was abolished so long ago!'

Madonna joined a long list of celebrities who have voiced their support for Britney Spears amid her ongoing conservatorship battle.

The 62-year-old superstar shared a photo to Instagram on Thursday wearing a T-shirt with the pop star’s name on it, and likened her situation to that of ‘slavery,’ while promising that they would fight to get her ‘out of jail.’

In 2011, the Toxic singer, 39, had credited Madonna with helping her get her life back on track following her early mental health outbursts, and it seemed this time around Madonna was hoping to be another ray of light.

In the throwback snap Madonna looked youthful while wearing a bedazzled Britney tank top with a pink furry shawl, and publicly pleaded for the singer.

‘Give this woman her life back Slavery was abolished so long ago! Death to the greedy patriarchy that has been doing this to women for centuries.’

‘This is a violation of human rights! Britney we coming to get you out of jail!,’ she wrote.

The musical powerhouses had collaborated in 2003 on Me Against the Music and notoriously shared a kiss on stage at the MTV VMAs.

That following year Britney also presented the Material Girl crooner with a lifetime achievement award at the NRJ Awards in France.

And following a series of outbursts, the ‘Slave 4 U’ singer told Harper’s Bazaar in 2011 that Madonna was pivotal in getting her career back on track.

‘I guess she’s really taught me to stay true to myself. That seems like a simple thing to say, but she taught me through action, not just by saying it. There are so many people around you that have opinions, but you just have to listen to your instincts,’ she told the publication.

In a 2017 tweet she also credited both the Material Girl singer and Beyonce for being a source of inspiration.

‘2 of the many women who inspire me. Always fierce throughout their careers. Thank you for being amazing,’ she wrote as she wished them a happy International Women’s Day.

As Spears’ conservatorship battle continues to wage on against dad Jamie Spears 13-years later, she recently testified for the first time about the brutality of her situation.

On June 23 she told a Los Angeles court that her father would mandate unnecessary psychological evaluations, therapy, and rehab on her own dime, and even forced her to work against her will.

Britney also shared that he took her credit card, passport, possessions and cash away, and forced her to live under 24-7 surveillance, adding that a staff of nurses and security ‘watched [her] change every day.’ ‘I had no privacy dog from my, from my room,’ she told the court.

‘The control he had over someone as powerful as me, as he loved the control to hurt his own daughter 100,000%. He loved it,’ Spears maintained, and later added that she’d like to ‘sue’ her ‘whole family’ for ‘doing nothing.’
