A crime reporter, famous for exposing the Dutch underworld has become the subject, rather than the documenter of a crime scene.Peter R. de Vries, was shot and seriously wounded on a street in Amsterdam, police said on Tuesday.He had been in a television studio earlier in the evening and was shot near one of the city’s largest public squares. Then, taken to hospital in a “serious condition.”Police have called for eyewitnesses to come forward.An alleged shooter was arrested shortly afterward, according to a local newspaper but police said they could neither confirm nor deny that report.De Vries is a celebrity in the Netherlands, and a frequent commentator on television crime programs, known for his investigative work on countless cases, notably following the 1983 kidnapping of beer magnate Freddy Heineken.
