Manchester United ‘dealt blow in chase for Kingsley Coman as £60m-valued Bayern Munich star WILL be part of new boss Julian Nagelsmann’s plans for next season’

  • Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Kingsley Coman
  • United reportedly hold a longstanding interest in the Bayern Munich star
  • However, Julian Nagelsmann is understood to be intent on keeping the attacker
  • Coman’s contract expires in 2023 and is demanding the same pay as Leroy Sane

Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their chase for Kingsley Coman amid reports that new Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has made the Frenchman part of his plans for next season.

Coman, 25, has been linked with a summer exit with super-agent Pini Zahavi understood to be sounding out interest for the attacker, whose contract expires in 2023.

United have monitored the £60m-valued Bayern star for some time, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to bring in options for the right hand side of his attack, although Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho is at the top of the Red Devils’ wishlist.

And according to Goal, Nagelsmann has no plans to see Coman leave the club this summer as the new Bayern boss sets about getting to work after taking over from Hans Dieter-Flick.

Munich chiefs are working to strike an agreement with Coman over a contract extension, with the winger demanding his wage matches that of Leroy Sane, who joined from Man City last summer.

Sane was handed Coman’s No 10 shirt upon his arrival, a source of disappointment on the Frenchman’s part having scored the winning goal in the Champions League final in 2020.

Bayern are under no financial pressure to sell and coupled with Nagelsmann’s intent on making Coman part of his plans this coming campaign, it would appear unlikely that the 25-year-old will head for the exit door.

Reports had seen Coman linked with a move to Chelsea, although the same outlet states that Thomas Tuchel’s side hold no interest in a swoop for the Frenchman.

Coman scored eight goals and provided 15 assists across 39 appearances for the German giants as they stormed to another Bundesliga title in 2020-21.
