Jay Blades has been a firm favourite on BBC’s The Repair Show since the programme’s debut in 2017. The 51-year-old has captivated British audiences with the tear-jerking series, where family heirlooms are restored for their owners by a team of experts.
Jay recently ventured away from the show with the release of his memoir Making It, giving readers a personal insight into his childhood and journey into the world of television.
The BBC star has opened up about his time on the programme as the restorer revealed he has been busy working on other shows.
When quizzed about continuing to front The Repair Shop, Jay highlighted he had been doing the job for a long time.
The small-screen star admitted he had no plans to leave and added that the emotionally charged BBC programme will continue to be aired in the coming years.

Each of the one-hour-long shows in the six-part series, set to be broadcast in late summer, will focus on a different community champion and the process of building them a surprise item.
Jay has also set his sights on a primetime television show in complete contrast to restoration.
Addressing the possibility of fronting a gameshow, Jay explained: “Even when we look at British TV – a station asked me, ‘What shows would you like to do?’
“I said, ‘First and foremost, I want to do shows based around community. To show that together we can achieve anything.'”
He added: “But I would like to do a game show.”
Meanwhile, Jay opened up about his decision to write his first memoir where the presenter gives an in-depth insight into his life story.
Jay remarked: “A lot of people just know me as Jay from The Repair Shop but no one knows the true me.
“And knowing the true me will inspire people to achieve things at the later times of their lives.”
