Paramount+ drops wild, action-packed ‘Infinite’ trailer

Even Tom Cruise would be jealous of these stunts.

Paramount+ dropped a wild trailer for the upcoming action film “Infinite,” starring Mark Wahlberg (“Ted”) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave”), Friday. The teaser is packed with sword fights, blazing guns, a fight scene atop a sky-high crane and a crazy, window-smashing car chase right through NYPD headquarters. However, the show-stopper is a sequence depicting Wahlberg’s character, Evan McCauley, flying off the edge of a cliff — and onto the wing of an airplane. It’s quite a tumble, and we assume it’s CGI.

But don’t worry — there’s an actual plot, too.

Wahlberg’s Evan is on the verge of a mental breakdown, haunted by “skills he has never learned and memories of places he has never visited,” according to the official synopsis. It turns out he’s kinda special in this dark, ominous tale about endless reincarnation.

“This isn’t your first life, Evan,” Ejiofor’s unnamed, doomsday-seeking antagonist tells him. “You are an ‘Infinite.’ You’ve lived — and died — a thousand times.” Evan has to save humanity (of course) and thwart his nemesis — who is also an Infinite — from ending all life and stopping what he sees as a cursed cycle of reincarnation.

Based on the book “The Reincarnationist Papers” by D. Eric Maikranz, the film is directed by Antoine Fuqua (“The Equalizer”) and also stars Dylan O’Brien, Sophie Cookson, Jason Mantzoukas and Rupert Friend.

“Infinite” will premiere June 10 on Paramount+.
