Kate ‘trying to mediate’ reconciliation between Harry and William, uncle says

Kate Middleton’s uncle says she is “trying to mediate” and settle the rift between Prince William and Prince Harry.

Gary Goldsmith — the brother of Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton — told Closer magazine that William’s wife is a “brilliant arbiter and peacemaker” who can hopefully help repair royal relations following Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive claims about the family.

“The harsh truth – in my opinion – is that if Harry doesn’t get a grip and stop this self-indulgent episode, there will soon be no common ground or relationship to rebuild,” he told the publication.

“But if anyone can bring peace to the royals, Kate can,” he added. “Kate is a brilliant arbiter and peacemaker. Every bone in her body is about making friends and doing the best she can … She’s trying to mediate.”

In March, Meghan and Harry gave a bombshell interview to Oprah Winfrey, where they laid out claims including allegations of racism in the Palace. Harry also took digs at William and then his father, Prince Charles, in a subsequent podcast interview with Dax Shepard.

Goldsmith noted that “Harry and Kate were great friends, they were a trio with William and a strong unit” before Harry and Meghan left their senior royal roles and the UK behind.

The trio reunited at Prince Philip’s funeral in April, where they were seen chatting for the first time since Harry and Meghan’s departure.

“Family and relationships are everything to Kate – she’s very nurturing, she wouldn’t like that [rift] happening and she is trying to look after her husband and do what she can to make things right,” he added.

Goldsmith, 56, also noted that he is “worried about” Harry, who also spoke recently about his past panic attacks, drug use and drinking.
