I told people that Sony absolutely would not have a late review embargo for R&C: Rift Apart, Horizon: Forbidden West or GOW: Ragnorok.
Given the quality of the game, it objectively was very weird that Returnal had a late review embargo. Unless they had some updates to roll out fairly close to release, it showed a lack of confidence and probably hurt the game’s sales, tbh. Given the high reviews, an earlier review cycle would have hyped more people into buying the game and would have kept the media talking about it longer.
