Lil Nas X rips his pants while pole dancing to his hit track Montero during his sexy SNL performance

Lil Nas X’s performance on the finale of Saturday Night Live included an unexpected wardrobe malfunction, which left him with ripped pants in front of a live audience.

While performing his controversial hit song Montero (Call Me By Your Name) on NBC’s Emmy Award-winning late-night comedy, the 22-year-old rapper gyrated and danced next to a stripper pole with a slew of shirtless backup dancers.

Even after his leather pants spilt halfway through the track, the two-time Grammy winner didn’t miss a beat with his choreography as he crooned: ‘I’m not fazed, only here to sin/If Eve ain’t in your garden, you know that you can.’

Upon realizing the snag in his trousers near his crotch, a momentary wave of panic spread across his face, but he managed to cover the rip with his hands and keep performing.

Despite looking mostly calm and collected on stage, the Old Town Road hitmaker turned to Twitter to share his true feelings about the mortifying mishap.

‘NOT MY PANTS RIPPED ON LIVE ON TV,’ he tweeted immediately after his set. ‘OMFG NO.’

Fans flocked to social media to react to the wardrobe malfunction with memes, including comparing the moment to an episode of SpongeBob, in which the titular character rips his pants, causing everyone to laugh.

Before hitting the stage, he anticipated a great performance as he told People he was ‘going to go out there and just murder it.’

Others praised his ability to successfully complete the song, while some pondered what could’ve been if his pants didn’t rip.

‘Not gonna lie, I feel a little cheated by the Lil Nas X ripped pants debacle. Because that was a f**king perfect performance and I desperately want to know how much more incredibly it would have been if he hadn’t needed to avoid a live wardrobe malfunction.

The pair’s episode marks the first completely full and fully vaccinated audience since the coronavirus pandemic hit.

Earlier this month, Lil Nas X said that he ‘doesn’t care’ about being a role model as it’s ‘not his job’ and that he hopes fans simply follow his lead in ‘doing themselves’ in a new interview with GQ Style.

‘At first I felt a sense of responsibility… But now I kind of just don’t care. It’s not my job. Of course I want to spread good ideals, but I’m not nobody’s parents,’ he said after raising eyesbrows with his recent raunchy release Montero (Call Me By Your Name).

He also reflected on the controversial video for his song, which sees him grinding on Satan, saying it was ‘rebellious on many levels.’

‘Part of my plan is to make sure people know I’m going to do whatever the f**k I want, when I want to, and if you’re mad at it, I’m going to laugh in your face,’ he added.

Montero was an instant hit, debuting at the top of Billboard Hot 100 for the week of April 10, 2021, with 21,000 downloads, 46.9 million streams, and 1.1 million radio airplay audience impressions.
