Tommy Fury has been labelled ’embarassing’ by Jake Paul and mocked by Conor McGregor’s coach after it was confirmed his next fight was confirmed.

The younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has has won all of his five professional bouts and he will be looking to make it a sixth victory when he faces Andy Bishop on the undercard of Daniel Dubois vs Bodgan Dinu on June 5.  

But Fury has been criticsed for agreeing to fight Bishop, who is seen as a journeyman boxer. The 38-year-old has a record of 0-14 and has been beaten by knockout twice.

John Kavanagh, coach of UFC star McGregor, quote tweeted the announcement with the caption: ‘5-0 v 0-14? Really?’

Paul was more damning in his criticism, posting on his Instagram story: ‘And of course this gets announced the next day. Embarrassing the Fury name.’ 

The Youtube star’s comments were referring to a video Paul tweeted earlier this week after being called out by both Tyson brothers and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

In the video, Paul alleged that the former Love Island star’s girlfriend, Molly-Mae Hague, had once sent him a message on Instagram – which later proved to be fake.

Fury has mainted he wants to fight Paul but the American has insisted he is competing at a much higher level than the Brit.

The 22-year-old will now turn his attentions toward his bout with Bishop, who is 16 years his senior.

Bishop’s most recent defeat came against 26-year-old Jack Owen in March 2020.

This is not the first time Fury has been criticsed for facing opponents with a inferior record. 

His last fight came against Scott Williams, who had a record of 0-9, with Fury stopping him in the second round.
