During one emotional segment of the programme, Oprah struggled to hold back the tears as she recalled the horrific moment her abuse began.
Oprah went on to share her own experience after she spoke about some of her pupils who attended her academy, which is when she realised a number of the students were being abused by family members.
“At nine, 10, 11 and 12-years-old I was raped by my 19-year-old cousin,” she recalled.
“I didn’t know what rape was, I certainly wasn’t aware of the word, I had no idea what sex was. I had no idea where babies came from, I had no idea what was happening to me.”
