David Beckham’s controversial inclusion in the Premier League Hall of Fame has struck a nerve with many fans.
A number of supporters took to social media to air their grievances that the former Manchester United wide-man was inducted.
Many believe that his former team-mate Paul Scholes would have been more deserving of a place among the other greats to make the cut.

Beckham saw off competition from Scholes, John Terry and Patrick Vieira to seal the eighth spot.
But the reaction has been fierce with far more detractors than backers of the former England captain.
One wrote: ‘Another player before Scholes’, with four crying with laughter emojis.
Another was even more scathing, calling Beckham the ‘most overrated player of his generation’, while a third wrote that ‘they’re just inducting anyone now’.
Some believed the inclusion of Beckham was down the Premier League valuing celebrity over contribution to the competition.

One wrote: ‘This is just based on who’s a celebrity and in the news today. Scholes keeps to himself and therefore hasn’t got as many votes.’
‘I love Beckham but this is just turning out to be a popularity contest’, shared another.
The Premier League tweeted a video cut together with Beckham’s stats and pictures from his time at Old Trafford before he moved on to Real Madrid.
He made 265 appearances for the club under Sir Alex Ferguson and provided 80 assists with his trademark range of passing.
Beckham won the title six times, scored 62 goals and took home the Player of the Month award once.

There were some who vocally supported his inclusion, with one of his advocates posting: ‘People forget how good of a footballer he was.’
It was also argued that ‘impact’ was being measured and in this instance Beckham deserved to join the exclusive club.
‘The Hall of Fame isn’t just about the best players it’s about who made an impact and changed football’, one argued.
‘Beckham had such an impact to the game on and off the field. Cantona was a pioneer,Bergkamp the same. Definitely better players out there but it’s about the impact they had.’
