Amazon Prime Video has released two new clips from upcoming sci-fi anthology Solos. The first gives us a look at Anne Hathaway at her most isolated and frantic. Directed by Zach Braff, the episode stars Hathaway as Leah, a physicist obsessed with perfecting time travel in her basement.

Check out the clip below.

The clip features a tense moment as Hathaway’s Leah types furiously onto her keyboard, desperately trying to make contact with an unknown someone, or something. The set dressing alone makes this episode stand out, with the warmth of countless exposed bulbs giving the illuminated basement extreme ’70s vibes, contrasted with the overload of more modern technology.

As Leah desperately tries to connect with someone through the technology, we hear her own voice echoed back at her, over and over, until someone else finally responds… and we fade to black.

The second clip focuses on Uzo Aduba’s Sasha. Set 20 years after a global event drove the world to lock themselves inside, Sasha tries to outwit her smart home that she fears may now be manipulating her to leave.

These teasers are a good sign the anthology series will blend the vibe of Black Mirror and Stranger Things smoothly — just enough intrigue to keep you guessing, with an aesthetic that makes you feel right in the thick of it. The isolation of the monologues (and the fact that they were all filmed in lockdown) adds to the effect.

Anthony Mackie, Helen Mirren, Constance Wu, Dan Stevens and Nicole Beharie also star, each featured in their own episode of the anthology.

All seven episodes of Solos hit Amazon Prime Video on Friday.
