Harry Kane appears to be edging closer to a sensational exit from Tottenham in the summer with enquiries from three Premier League clubs already being made, according to reports. Kane has often repeated his desire to stay at Tottenham for the remainder of his career, but raised some doubts last year when he admitted that he wouldn’t hang around for the sake of it.
The seed was planted that Kane clearly wanted to challenge for trophies, with the striker turning 28 years of age this summer.
Spurs failed to kick on this year under Jose Mourinho, despite a promising start in the Premier League.
They did reach the Carabao Cup final, but Mourinho was sacked just days before the match against Manchester City.
Ryan Mason was put in charge on a temporary basis, but he was unable to lead his boyhood club to their first piece of silverware since 2008.
And it appears as though that final defeat was the last straw for Kane, who seemingly wants to leave this summer.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who report that Kane has already told Spurs officials of his summer plans.
It is also claimed that Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all held discussions with Kane’s representatives.
The battle is now on for the Premier League’s biggest clubs to sign the England captain as Kane’s preference is reportedly to remain in his home country.
And things could move quickly with Kane supposedly wanting a move all finalised before he meets up with the England squad for the European Championships next month.
Spurs reportedly remain adament that Kane isn’t for sale, and they may hold a strong negotiating position.
Kane still has three years left on his contract, meaning Daniel Levy will likely not budge on whatever valuation he sets for the striker.
But it appears as though the Tottenham chairman is beginning to plan for life after Kane with the report adding that the search for his replacement has already begun.
Signing Kane from Tottenham will likely take a bid in the region of £100million, but he’s long proven to be worth the money during his time in north London.
The England international looks on course to win another golden boot this season, but his efforts in front of goal have failed to keep Tottenham in the battle for a top-four finish.
And they even face a tough challenge to make sure they qualify for next year’s Europa League with two games remaining.
West Ham and Everton are close behind Spurs in the table with the team finishing seventh potentially playing in the inaugural Europa Conference League.
