Tyson Fury 'ditches the booze for the good of his mental wellbeing'

Tyson Fury ‘ditches the booze for the good of his mental well-being’ after Gyspy King revealed he was drinking TWELVE PINTS a day earlier this year amid prolonged talks over a mega-fight with Anthony Joshua

  • Tyson Fury has reportedly gone teetotal for the good of his mental well-being
  • The 32-year-old has opened up on his drink, drug and mental health problems
  • The Gypsy King claimed this year that he was drinking up to 12 pints a day
  • However, reports suggest that the heavyweight champion has ditched the booze

Tyson Fury has reportedly ditched the booze for the good of his mental well-being after the heavyweight champion claimed that he was drinking 12 pints a day earlier this year, according to The Sun.

Fury, 32, has emerged as a role model for those battling mental health issues after opening up about his demons following his famous triumph over Wladimir Klitschko back in 2015.

The Gypsy King has battled drink, drugs and mental health issues, but made an incredible return to the ring culminating in his victory over Deontay Wilder in February 2020, landing him the WBC heavyweight title.

Fury is expected to take on Anthony Joshua on August 14 in Saudi Arabia, in a fight that will unify the heavyweight division for the first time since the early 2000s.

While the lawyers have mulled over the finer details of the mega-money deal, believes to worth at least £100million, Fury has taken to social media in recent months to send messages to his arch rival.

And fans were concerned for the Gypsy King after he claimed he was drinking 12 pints a day in March.

‘I have stopped training at the moment, I am on holiday,’ he had said when negotiations appeared to hit a standstill. ‘I am drinking between eight, ten, 12 pints of lager a day.’

However, The Sun reports that Fury is in fact teetotal. The 32-year-old has reportedly given up the booze for his own wellbeing and for the good of his family. He has five children and one on the way with wife Paris, who is his childhood sweetheart and has been his partner since they were teenagers.

Fury’s remark earlier this year is reported to have been a possible ploy to ensure that talks are sped up between the two parties.

The Gypsy King has been enjoying time Stateside in recent weeks. Accompanied by brother Tommy, Fury is currently in Miami where he was filmed training with UFC legend Nick Diaz.

Fury was previously in Dallas, Texas, to offer support to his close friend Billy Joe Saunders for his fight with Canelo Alvarez. The super-middleweight was defeated by eighth-round stoppage.

Fury’s brother Tommy, who is better known for his stint on Love Island then his boxing career, is looking to land a mega-money fight with YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul.

Tommy has won all five of his fights as a pro while Paul also has a perfect record, having most recently knocked out ex-UFC star Ben Askren.
