Harry Redknapp suffers major technical issues in Heart Radio interview as wife steps in

The former football manager, 74, is currently in the midst of promoting his latest television venture with his son, Jamie Redknapp, 47. However, over one year into lockdown, it appears that Harry Redknapp still hasn’t managed to adjust to video calling.

The famous father and son duo joined Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston in today’s edition of their Heart FM breakfast programme, to discuss Redknapp’s Big Night Out.

As the interview got underway, the pair faced a grilling from the hosts, who asked a series of questions.

However, during a quickfire round, Harry faced technical difficulties as his Zoom account seemingly failed to register the built-in microphone.

In a bid to save the interview, he was seen attempting to test the audio before wife Sandra made an appearance, delighting Jamie.

Sandra appeared on screen and looked perplexed before Harry was seen grinning towards the camera, as he picked up his device to check the audio input.

“Oh look, mum’s involved as well, look mum’s getting in, this is chaos!” laughed Jamie as he beamed from ear-to-ear.

Noticing that former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry was facing difficulties, Amanda added: “We’re still trying to get Harry on Zoom.”

Before Jamie Theakston interjected: “In the background, Harry is trying to get his Zoom sorted – in the meantime, we will carry on regardless.”

While trying to keep the interview afloat, the former went on to reference a segment from Jamie’s book, Me, Family and the Making of a Footballer: The Warmest, Most Charming Memoir of the Year, noting that pals of his stole his phone and sent a text message to Sir Andy Murray about his thighs.

However, as the interview drew to a close, Amanda managed to faintly hear Sandra.

“I can hear your mum,” she told the others.

Before Jamie Theakston went on to add: “Well listen, unfortunately, we’re out of time I’m afraid, so we nearly had your dad Jamie.”

“I can hear your mum, it’s hilarious,” laughed Amanda.

However, just moments before the interview came to an end, Jamie Redknapp said: “Honestly, if you could see this now, I’m looking at a picture of my mum, she’s got her glasses on trying to get on [Zoom], and my poor dad, looking up his nostrils, it’s not a good look!”

Suddenly, Harry’s link cut out before a red screen appeared, indicating that the camera had been closed.

The duo also faced a rather awkward encounter as they appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier in the day.

While appearing via video link from their respective homes in Dorset and Surrey, a banner beneath a clip of their pair read: “Harry & Jamie Redknapp’s Big Bight Out – Famous father and son team up for their own chat sow,” sending social media wild.

After noticing the typing error, one viewer tweeted: “#GMB what the devil is a chat sow?”

“#GMB what’s a ‘chat sow’???” added a second.

Before a third penned: “@GMB Harry and Jamie’s big new ‘sow’”.

Redknapp’s Big Night Out airs tonight at 10pm on Sky One.
