Former This Morning presenter Richard Madeley, 64, was turned away by security after he tried to unintentionally gatecrash Ricky Gervais’ After Life set. The TV favourite was trying to get a table at a restaurant but didn’t realise that it had been shut off from the public to shoot the third season of the Netflix series After Life and was subsequently turned away.
The husband of former ITV host Judy Finnegan, 72, was spotted driving his VW car up to the set but didn’t realise the road was closed.
After being stopped by a crew member who put a hand out, the star jumped out of his car for an animated chat.
Upon realising his gaffe, the TV host climbed back in his car and drove off.
Richard subsequently failed to get a table at the restaurant and was made to dine elsewhere.

His blunder came hours after it was revealed that he looks set to replace former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, as ITV bosses are reported to be lining up the presenter for a trial stint.
It’s been reported bosses will give Richard a trial over the summer and it’s believed they are hoping he will be a good replacement for Piers.
Since Piers left his role on Good Morning Britain, different hosts have stepped up to the mark to fill his shoes alongside Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins.
Nevertheless, Richard could be the favourite to replace the outspoken personality as he previously claimed he would be “bonkers” to say no to the offer.
He continued to recall a time when he received death threats on social media for simply standing in for Piers Morgan.
“I remember when I started sitting in for Piers on Good Morning Britain, I’d have a look at Twitter after I’d done a programme and, yes, you get some nice comments but you also get horrendous abuse and, from time to time, death threats.”
While the star noted that the threatening nature of the messages needed to be taken seriously, he went on to say that most of the time they came from bored viewers.
“Obviously some death threats have to be taken seriously but from my experience, 99.9 percent of them are just coming from sad losers who’ve got nothing better to do.”
Speaking to The Metro, Richard explained that the best way he dealt with them was to treat them with “indifference.”
“I’ve not reported any to the police because that would mean I’d take them seriously. They’re to be treated with indifference,” he said.
Richard presented ITV show This Morning for over 10 years with Judy, before going on to front chat show Richard and Judy alongside his wife.
He is now one of the main stand-in presenters for This Morning.
