Johnson & Johnson vaccine: Why has the US been told to pause J&J Covid vaccine rollout?

It’s still not clear whether the reported blood clots were the same type as those linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine earlier this month.

European Union’s health and medicines regulator, the EMA, confirmed that AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine was linked to cerebral venous sinus thrombosis blood clots, but the benefits of getting vaccinated outweigh the negatives.

The UK’s drug regulator, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), found that 79 people had developed these rare blood clots after AstraZeneca vaccination – 19 of which subsequently died.

People under 30 years old in the UK will now be offered an alternative to the AstraZeneca vaccine.
