Celtic secured second place in the Scottish Premiership in some style after thrashing fourth-placed Livingston 6-0 at Celtic Park.

Despite having drawn their last two league games, Celtic were in unforgiving mood, with goals from James Forrest, David Turnbull, Ryan Christie and a Mohamed Elyounoussi double piling misery on the visitors. Livingston also scored an own goal to cap off a terrible day.

The win means third place Hibernian are now too far behind to catch Celtic in second with the number of games remaining.

Celtic dominated the match from the off, ending the game with 70 per cent possession and 10 shots on goal to Livingston’s two. That it took Forrest until the half-hour mark to put Celtic ahead was the only real surprise in the first half.

Eight minutes later Turnbull turned in Celtic’s second from close range. Things went from bad to worse for Livingston in the second half when Jack Fitzwater turned into his own net on 50 minutes.

Elyounoussi scored a curling effort four minutes later and capped off a stellar afternoon for Celtic by slotting home their fifth with almost half an hour left to play. Ryan Christie put the icing on the cake with a late sixth goal in the 87th minute.
