Free stuff, discounts your COVID vaccine card can get you

As if protection from COVID-19 wasn’t enough, getting jabbed could also get you swag.

From Krispy Kreme doughnuts to free beer and weed, companies are dolling out free stuff and discounts to those who flaunt their COVID vaccination cards.

All COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the US, including the Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson shots, have been shown to be highly effective at preventing COVID-19 infections, and even more effective at preventing deaths from the illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Plus, as a result of fewer people spreading the virus, states are starting to loosen restrictions — which sounds even more appealing than a free doughnut and beer right about now.

But hey, if that’s what it takes, let’s do this.

Here’s a look at the freebies and discounts your vaccination card will get you — in addition to, you know, living. We’ll keep this story updated as the deals roll in.

Krispy Kreme

Doughnut purveyor Krispy Kreme announced that people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 can get a free original glazed doughnut at US shops — as long as they show a valid inoculation record card.

“We’d like to show sweet support to those who have received the COVID-19 Vaccine,” the North Carolina-based doughnut company and coffeehouse chain said in a tweet.

The special promotion goes into effect Monday and will last through the end of the year.

Sam Adams

Starting April 12, beer company Samuel Adams will give $7 to the first 10,000 people who share their vaccine cards with the hashtag #ShotForSam and the tag @samueladamsbeer on Instagram or Twitter. Just be careful not to give away any personal information. You can also opt for a pic of your vaccination sticker. The idea is that you’ll use that $7 to buy one of their beers.

“Sam Adams hopes drinkers will get back to supporting the bars and restaurants they love. So if you get vaccinated against COVID-19, we’ll buy your first beer back!”

Brooklyn Brewery

If you have a taste for the local stuff, head over to Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Brewery. Your card gets you a free six pack of brew through the end of April.

Mint Dispensary

OK so maybe not worth a drive to Arizona, but who are we to judge: Mint Dispensary in Phoenix is offering free marijuana edibles to those who show their vaccination card.

Uber and Lyft

The rideshare companies Lyft and Uber are offering free or discounted rides to and from vaccination centers. Talk about a joyride.

The NYC cheesecake legends are offering a free mini cheesecake at their Brooklyn location to those who show they’ve been vaccinated.

“We need people to be vaccinated. We need this to be over,” Alan Rosen, the owner of Junior’s Restaurant and Bakery, told the WSJ.

Staples, Office Depot and OfficeMax

With all these freebies and deals, you better keep that vaccination card in tact. Staples, Office Depot and Office Max stores in the US are offering free lamination of vaccine cards through July 25.
