The best one-liners from Yahoo Answers’ 15-year run

This advice hub is not long for the web, but its best posts will live on.

After nearly 16 years serving as a repository for the myriad questions from anyone and everyone with an internet connection, Yahoo Answers is throwing in the towel. The Verizon-owned media outlet has announced it will stop accepting new submissions beginning April 20 and will begin redirecting to the Yahoo homepage starting May 4.

With the end now nigh for the legendarily ridiculous website devoted to society’s most bizarre, inane and periodically insightful queries, internet denizens have come out in force to mourn the relic by sharing the most insane one-liners posted on it over the years.

“How can I tell if my neighbors are raptors?” asks a question posed on the forum — “1 decade ago,” according to one Twitter user’s screenshot, which was mournfully posted in the wake of the news.

“Are Pokemon real i want to know? ?” wondered another poster, who claimed to have once encountered the character Bulbasaur but clarified that “it might have been lettuce.”

“How do I use the internet?” a user named Tyler asked in another ridiculous moment for the forum. (After receiving a genuine, extensive answer, Tyler posted again: “Thanks I was trying to troll but you were so nice and I feel bad now.”)

Another red-letter day arrived with the question: “Which is worse? Ignorance or Apathy?” — to which came the response, “I don’t know and I don’t care.” A site griever memorialized the exchange with a tweet that read, “The greatest philosophers of our time were found on Yahoo Answers.”

“Devastating that Yahoo is closing down Yahoo answers since it’s taking down the internet’s Mona Lisa with it,” reporter Ben Collins captioned a screenshot of a jumbled, oft-memed word-salad that asked: “Has anyone really been far as decided to use even go want to do look more like?”

Other legends had more empirical questions.

“Why do chips get stale??” a user once asked. Another user answered, “thog dont caare” — a nonsense response that has since become legendary.

Additional highlights from the last 15 years include the queries “How do you get Youtube to come film you?” and “Why are the holes in cats fur in always the right places for their eyes?” A multitude of questions also egregiously misspelled the word “pregnant.”
