The biggest quake measured 4.0 on the Richter scale and was centred to the east of LA International Airport.
The quake was measured around a mile from the LA county of Lennox at 11.44am (6.44pm BST on Sunday)
It reached a depth of 19.9km, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
Just 30 minutes earlier, a quake with the force of 2.5 was recorded in the same region.
Although it was less powerful, it reached greater depths and had a range of 25.9km.
The third earthquake in the state of California was recorded on Sunday evening around 2km from Beaumont.
The quake struck at 9.14pm (4.14am BST Monday) with a magnitude of 3.4 and reached depths of 13.4km.
A number of terrified Americans have shared their experience of the 4.0 quake on the testimonies page on the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) website.
One witness in Lennox wrote: “My bed was moving is the second time now.”
Another in Inglewood said: “Scared the hell outta us.”
A third in Alondra Park added: “Rolling, trembling, rattling earthquake.”
A fourth located in View Park-Windsor Hills said: “My windows were rattling.”
At this stage there are no reports of any injuries or damage to buildings.
