GTA 6 release date news: Rockstar Games dropping major Grand Theft Auto reveal soon?

Grand Theft Auto makers Rockstar Games are tipped to have a major announcement up their sleeves. It’s been over eight and a half years since GTA 5 first came out, and fans are still waiting to hear something – anything – about what is planned next. We know that the next big GTA release will be a remaster of GTA 5 for next-gen consoles, and there’s rumours of a remaster of the original PS2 trilogy. But the announcement that GTA fans are really holding out for is the reveal of GTA 6.

And as fans continue to wait for this hugely anticipated reveal a secret announcement from Rockstar Games has been teased.

The rumour comes courtesy of notable Rockstar Games insider Tezfunz2 who was posting on the GTA Forums site.

The GTA leaker has revealed that Rockstar Games has a hidden article on their official newswire site which is set to go live.

The GTA leaker wrote: “So, Rockstar skipped an article once again. Could mean nothing or simply reserved for a ‘GTAO Job Spotlight’ article etc. Heck, may not even have to do with GTAO.”

This Rockstar newswire article, which Tezfunz2 highlighted in the middle of March, can be found by clicking here.

Since this article was revealed Rockstar Games has published plenty of other Newswire articles.

But none of these pages have the same URL as the one that Tezfunz2 highlighted, with this web address – at the time of writing – currently returning an error message.

In a video online YouTuber MrBossFTW has speculated what this as-of-yet unpublished article could be about.

The GTA YouTuber said: “There is still a Newswire out there that has been created that has just been not made public yet.

“So it makes you wonder what is this article going to be about.”

MrBossFTW went on to add: “So it really does beg the question what Rockstar Games is up to here and what they could be potentially talking about.

“Now I think many people are very hopeful that this is going to be either for the expanded and enhanced version of GTA 5, the standalone version of Grand Theft Auto Online – although those would likely be announced together.

“Or potentially what is next for Grand Theft Auto Online.”

MrBossFTW also discussed rumours that have been swirling around in 2021 that Rockstar Games could be about to announce a remaster of the original Grand Theft Auto PS2 trilogy.

The YouTuber highlighted how, on the GTA Forums once again, Tezfunz2 addressed these rumours.

The leaker was asked by a fellow GTA Forums member whether the announcement that community members have been teasing in 2021 has already happened or fans are still waiting.

And replying to this Tezfunz2 simply said: “Not related to GTA Online.”

Speculating on what this could mean, MrBossFTW said: “So I think that this is a clear indication this is very likely for some title in the future, like a new new title. Or that this is for something like a remaster of older Grand Theft Auto games.”
