Tennis stars Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils are ready to tie the knot, with the popular couple announcing their engagement on Saturday. 

The pair revealed the news on social media, with the Frenchman posting a picture of Svitolina showing-off her ring in the mountains and writing: ‘She said YES. Madame MONFILS.’

The Ukrainian former world No.3 posted a shot of their pair together, adding: ‘YES! to the beginning of our forever.’

Monfils and Svitolina have been datings since 2019 and have become fan favourites, posting to their shared ‘GEMS life’ Instagram page. 

A string of blue ticks reached-out to congratulate the pair, including Rodger Federer’s coach Ivan Ljubicic and former Arsenal footballer Johan Djourou. 

The Frenchman currently sits at No.14 in the ATP rankings, while his Ukrainian partner is No.5.

Both stars are yet to reach their first Grand Slam finals but have reached the last four, with Svitolina doing so in 2019 at the US Open and Wimbledon. She also boats victories over the Williams sisters and Naomi Osaka. 

Monfils has endured a difficult start to the year after being knocked-out in the Australian Open first round, and will hope to rediscover his past form which took him to the 2008 French Open and 2016 US Open semi-finals.
