EU propaganda crumbling to dust: Frexiteer says UK has destroyed 'stronger together' myth

Brexit Britain has enjoyed a hugely successful vaccine rollout programme, enabling Boris Johnson to press ahead with easing the country out of lockdown and getting the economy back on track. More than early 31 million people in the UK have already received their first dose of a Covid vaccine, with the country remaining on course to vaccinate every adult by the end of July. The number of people receiving both doses of a vaccine accelerated significantly throughout last month, exceeding one million on March 4, two million on March 18, three million on March 25 and four million just five days later on March 30.

In contrast, the vaccine rollout in the European Union has stumbled from one disaster to the next, triggered by a war of words with vaccine maker AstraZeneca over production and supply issues.

Earlier this month, more than half of the 27 EU member states temporarily suspended administering the AstraZeneca shot, citing reports of a small number of blood clots in patients that had received the jab.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) insisted the vaccine was safe, leading nations to resume its use, but Germany has now suspended use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for people aged under 60 due to fears of a link with rare blood clots.

Fears over a third wave of Covid rapidly engulfing Europe have also intensified with Emmanuel Macron enforcing a new four-week national lockdown amid surging cases in one of the EU’s biggest member states.

Charles-Henri Gallois, President of the Generation Frexit campaign group in France, told Express.co.uk: “I think that it’s more embarrassing for the pro-EU. All the propaganda of ‘Stronger together’ is falling apart.

“This crisis highlights an obvious fact for a Frexiteer like me: the independence, agility and resourcefulness of sovereign nation states like the UK have outshone the lumbering bureaucracy of the EU at every stage.

“When you have less vaccinations than Morocco, Chile, Serbia, Switzerland, Norway or Iceland, I’m pretty sure that these countries are laughing when they hear ‘stronger together’ or that ‘we need an EU solution to this crisis.”

Mr Gallois warned if the EU doesn’t turn its vaccination programme around significantly and ramp up the number of jabs administered to its 450 million citizens, the continent could face its next huge wave of Covid within a few months.

The Generation Frexit President once again repeated his belief the EU’s chaotic rollout of Covid vaccines proves it is the “best advert for Brexit”.

He warned that when the French begin to realise the hundreds of billions of euros the vaccine delays are costing, “the EU will pay the price and Frexit will rise”.

The Frexiteer concluded: “I think indeed that it’s the best advert for Frexit.

“One day of COVID-19 costs us 3 billion euros per day.

“It has been calculated that the vaccination delay will cost 123 billion euros for the EU country.

“When the French will pay the bill, I think that the EU will pay the price and Frexit will rise.”
