Hollywood residents have a cow after vandals deface landmark sign

Hollywood residents had a real cow Friday when the Los Angeles neighborhood’s iconic hillside sign was vandalized for the second time this year.

Three men in their 20s were arrested after allegedly defacing the landmark by placing a cow’s head over the first “O,” the LA Times reports, citing police sources.

Six people were arrested in February after changing the sign to read “Hollyboob,” including adult “Shag Mag” publisher Julia Rose, according to reports.

The cow’s head prank may have been a publicity stunt by local band Junior Varsity, TMZ reports.

The band recently put out its first single, “Cold Blood,” which has a cow on the cover, while their social media has been telling people to “Look for the signs,” TMZ noted.

“It’s really unfortunate that people want to try to make a statement on the sign,” Hollywood Sign Trust Chairman Mark Panatier told the LA Times, calling the response by police and park rangers “spectacular.”

The names of the men have not yet been released. They will be booked for misdemeanor trespassing, according to police.
