Food recalls are alerted by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) when a product is faulty and unsafe to eat. This can be due to many things, such as undeclared allergens on the item’s packaging.
Heron Foods yesterday recalled two Milka chocolate bars because the allergens labelled on the packaging are not in English.
This means that the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to almonds, hazelnuts, and other nuts.
They could also be harmful to people with an allergy to soya, and an intolerance to wheat, gluten, and milk or milk constituents.
Heron Foods has told customers who may have already bought the products to bring them back to stores.

The products will be exchanged for a full refund and customers do not need to bring their receipt.
Milka is a Swiss chocolate brand, and its products are sold in various UK supermarkets.
Meanhwile, Heron Foods is a retail chain with 290 stores throughout the north of England, the Midlands, and Wales.
The products that shoppers need to look out for are the Milka Daim Bar and the Milka Yoghurt Bar.
Both bars are 100 grams in size.
The Milka Daim bar has a best before date of October 30, 2021, and contains gluten, milk, almonds, hazelnuts, and soya.

The Milka Yoghurt Bar has a best before date of February 1, 2022, and also contains gluten, milk, almonds, hazelnuts, and soya.
In a statement on its website, the FSA said: “These products contain milk, soya and nuts (almonds, hazelnuts), making them a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya, and/ or nuts, and/or an allergy or intolerance milk or milk constituents.
“They may also contain wheat (gluten) and other nuts. This makes it a risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat and/or an allergy to nuts.”
The FSA’s advice to anyone who has bought either or both of the products is to take it back to the store where it was purchased in exchange for a full refund.
Heron Foods stated: “If you have bought Milka Daim or Milka Yoghurt and you have an allergy or intolerance to milk, almonds, soya, hazelnuts, wheat, or other nuts, do not eat them.”
The retail chain has told customers to check if they have bought one of the bars with no ingredients or allergens in English on its packaging.
If so, shoppers should return the product to a store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.

Other food recalls have also been issued this week by the FSA.
On Monday, March 29, Little Dish recalled its British Chicken & Veg Pie because it contains fish, which is not mentioned on the label.
This product is sold in both Asda and Tesco and its use by date is April 18, 2021.
Little Dish is asking customers who have already bought the product and who have an allergy to fish to return it to stores for a full refund.
