Dan Walker on nearly 12 hours of travel for BBC host's brief four-minute Pointless stint

Dan Walker, 44, is no stranger to putting his quizzing knowledge to the test after taking past in a variety of gameshows including Celebrity Mastermind, The Chase and Pointless. The BBC Breakfast presenter has since taken issue with his countless losses on the quiz programmes.

Dan opened up about his “poor record” on celebrity gameshows as he made a cheeky dig following his brief stint on Pointless.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show with Matt Lucas, the Breakfast host shared his dismay of having to travel for several hours only to make a very brief four-minute TV appearance.

It comes after the presenter was asked about his quizzing woes with the British comic.

“I’ve got a very poor record on game shows actually,” Dan commented.

Dan replied: “Yes, it was. I did really well in the cash builder, annihilated it. And then Paul Sinha said, ‘We would like to offer you £104,000.’

“I was very confident but on the second question, I was trying to act cool and give him the eye when answering, and got the question wrong and went home.”

“Will you be donating £104,000 of your own money?” Matt cheekily quizzed. “Are you going to put your house on the market?”

He added: “How will you repay the damage?”
