Morrisons' Easter pizza with chocolate and cheese baffles shoppers – ‘Wrong on every level

Morrisons’ Stonebaked Easter Pizza tops a traditional pizza base with cream cheese, chocolate chips, mini eggs and cookie dough. It only costs £2.89 and is big enough to share with friends. @Newfoodsuk posted a photo of the pizza on Instagram captioned: “Pizza base topped with chocolate, mini eggs and cookie dough. This is honestly amazing- get yours now from Morrisons.”

The post has almost received 12,000 likes and 2,000 comments from shoppers divided by the thought of a dessert pizza. One woman said: “OMG! This is wrong on every level.” And another said: “We didn’t need this. Easter didn’t need this. Pizza didn’t need this. Draw the line.”

A third joked: “As long as there is no pineapple it will be good,” and a fourth said: “I hope Jamie Oliver doesn’t see this.”

One shopper who had actually tried the pizza said: “We had one of these this evening, quite rich but really really nice flavours.”

Aidan Buckley, Food Boxes and Eat Fresh Director at Morrisons said: “Whether our customers are celebrating at home with family or sending gifts to loved ones, we created the Easter Treat Box to make it even easier for everyone to enjoy the spring festivities, and all delivered, hassle-free, right to their doorstep.”

The supermarket has also teamed up with Dr Oetker to create an Easter Baking Box for £23.

Morrisons said: “This box contains all the core ingredients you need for two amazing bakes. Get cracking with Lemon & White Chocolate Easter Egg biscuits and a Garden Traybake, these treats are a joy to bake, a joy to share, and a wonderful gift idea for the Easter holidays.”

All customers need to do is to add eggs and butter to the ingredients included in the box.
