GB News: Kirsty Gallacher confirmed as new breakfast presenter on Andrew Neil channel

Chaired by Andrew Neil, GB News is edging closer to its launch date to rival the likes of BBC and Sky News. So far, the network has landed a whole host of big names from the world of journalism and presenting and on Monday, it confirmed former Sky Sports presenter Kirsty Gallacher had become the latest addition to the team.

Gallacher joins GB News as part of the breakfast team, appearing on-air to rival ITV’s Good Morning Britain and BBC Breakfast.

Following the announcement, GB News’ Director of News and Programmes, John McAndrew said: “Kirsty’s warmth, openness and welcoming style is what GB News is all about.

“She’s a hugely skilled broadcast and a fantastic addition to the GB News family.”

Gallacher’s arrival comes just days after former BBC News presenter Simon McCoy was confirmed to switch to the new news network.

Responding to her appointment, Gallacher tweeted: “BREAKING NEWS… (excuse the pun!) I’m thrilled to announce I will be joining @GBNEWS as part of the channel’s breakfast team.

“Telling stories that matter to people is what drew me to broadcast journalism in the first place so I am beyond excited to get started!”

Fans will know Gallacher for her work on Sky Sports but the presenter has plenty of other high-profile roles on her CV.

Prior to GB News, Gallacher had appeared alongside Ant and Dec on Saturday Night Takeaway, fronted ITV’s Soccer Aid and took part in the 2015 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

“Another superb addition,” a fourth added to the discussion, while a fifth tweeted: “Magnificent news.”

While a sixth said: “Top signing. The ever more dynamic line up for @GBNEWS making the other channels look increasingly like the bunch of one-dimensional, agenda-driven, wokelings that they’ve allowed themselves to become. Can’t wait for the launch!”

Neil also retweeted the announcement of Gallacher’s arrival to his 1.1million followers.

Gallacher joins the likes of McCoy, Dan Wootton, Michelle Dewberry, Andrew Doyle, Tom Harwood and Rebecca Hutson in the GB News team.

When exactly fans will be able to catch Gallacher on-screen for GB News remains somewhat of a mystery, however.

As it stands, GB News is still yet to announce an official launch date.

However, it has been given a home on Freeview with Neil revealing it will be available to watch on channel 263.

Neil serves as chairman for the channel while Angelos Frangopoulos is listed as CEO for the network.

Neil will also appear on-screen as part of the presenting team.
