Armie Hammer is dropped from his role in Cold War drama Billion Dollar Spy amid his sexual assault scandal

The fallout from Armie Hammer’s sexual assault scandal continues, with the actor dropped from his last remaining film in development, Billion Dollar Spy.

The 34-year-old actor was originally cast in the Cold War drama back in October 2020, set to star alongside Mads Mikkelsen for director Amma Asante (Belle).

The project was the last movie he had in the works since word of scandal first broke in January, with Variety adding there is no word yet on who will take on the role now.

Hammer was slated to portray Brad Reid, who is a new arrival at the CIA’s Moscow station during the Cold War.

Reid strikes up a friendship with Russian engineer Adolf Tolkachev (Mikkelsen), despite being warned that Tolkachev likely is working with the KGB.

Tolkachev is ultimately working with the KGB, though he surprisingly turns over a slew of military secrets, earning him the nickname Billion Dollar Spy.

Hammer has been accused by multiple women of rape, who came forward with attorney Gloria Allred in a press conference in March.

The allegations lead to the Los Angeles Police Department launching an investigation into the actor, whose only statement said the allegations were, ‘bulls**t claims’ and, ‘vicious and spurious online attacks against him.’

The actor does have a number of projects that had already been shot prior to the scandal, including Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile and Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins.
