Lewis Hamilton 'massively excited' by Max Verstappen Red Bull duel at Bahrain Grand Prix

“I have been repeating this now for a few weeks. We will see,” he said when asked if his team could take the fight to Hamilton and his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.

Mercedes have won the constructors’ championship seven years in succession, and Verstappen doesn’t want his team to be labelled favourites.

“Because it doesn’t matter,” the Dutchman replied when asked why not.

“What matters is that you perform on track when it counts, and when you can score points.

“I think you just have to focus on your job and stay calm, and stay focused, because it just distracts you and, like I said, it’s just important to focus on the job.”
