UK Athletics set to contact European Indoor Championships organisers after TENTH positive Covid-19 case since their return… with Olympic pole vault hopeful Holly Bradshaw among that number

UK Athletics are expected to write to the organisers of the European Indoor Championships to raise concerns about their Covid-19 measures after a 10th member of the British travelling party tested positive.

Sportsmail reported last week that the entire British delegation, including 46 athletes, had to isolate for 10 days upon their return from Torun, Poland, after a member of the support staff produced a positive test.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the number of positives had risen to 10, with Olympic pole vault hopeful Holly Bradshaw having confirmed on Monday that she is among them.

UKA plan to write to European Athletics after being puzzled by the application of Covid protocols on site in Poland, including the policing of social distancing and face masks.

The impact on training for the isolated athletes is significant just four months out from the Tokyo Olympics.

It is also a troubling sign around the logistics of events, particularly given the relatively tiny size of the European Indoors compared to the Games.

There were also multiple cases within the Ukrainian team in Poland. European Athletics and Torun 2021 have been contacted for comment.
