Mental health charity Mind, which is a partner with ITV on its Britain Get Talking campaign, also criticised Piers, saying it was “disappointed” by the presenter’s comments.
ITV were also reportedly speaking with the star, who would mark six years on the show this year, over his controversial comments.
Piers also stormed off the set of GMB after arguing with his co-star Alex Beresford about the interview with Oprah.
Weather presenter Alex defended the couple, hitting back at Piers: “I understand you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle, or had one, and she cut you off.
“She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off?
“I don’t think she has but yet you continue to trash her.”
