Murder Among The Mormons Netflix: Where is Mark Hofmann now?

The 66-year-old was born in Salt Lake City and he is currently at the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Utah, serving a life sentence.

He was raised by two devout followers of the LDS Church. He became notorious for forgeries and one of his most famous was the Salamander Letter – a controversial document about the history of the Latter-Day Saints.

The number of forged documents by Hofmann is unknown but they include letters explaining the origins of the Book of Mormon.

Hofmann made money from his forgeries but due to his lavish lifestyle, he was in plenty of debt.

In order to make extra cash, he tried to sell a group of documents known as the McLellin Collection.
