Save $70 on the Keurig K-Duo single-serve and carafe coffee maker

Keurig

I’m a Keurig ex-pat. Last year I abandoned the pods in favor of grinding my own beans and pour-over brewing. That said, there are times when I miss the simplicity of a quick, no-muss-no-fuss single cup. There are also times when it would be handy to brew an actual pot of coffee, like when we let socially distanced relatives visit.

Enter the Keurig K-Duo, which offers both single-cup pod brewing and full-pot drip brewing. It normally sells for $170, but for a limited time, and while supplies last, Amazon has the Keurig K-Duo for $100 — tying the lowest price on record (which was a brief Black Friday discount). If you prefer a local or non-Amazon option, Best Buy has it for the same price.

Don’t confuse this with the K-Duo Essentials, which is always priced at $100 (but occasionally goes on sale for $80). This model offers a few extra features, most notably a “strong brew” mode and a timer: You can program it to start brewing in the morning (or whenever).

CNET hasn’t reviewed the K-Duo, and it didn’t score a spot on the list of the best coffee makers for 2021. But the user ratings at both Amazon and Best Buy are extremely positive overall, so if you’re in the market for a two-fer, this deal is worth considering.

Get an open-box Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 5G phone for $500

Juan Garzon / CNET

Remember last year at this time, when the just-announced Galaxy S20 Plus would have cost you $1,200? Whew, glad you weren’t crazy enough to spend that kind of money!

Because right now, and while supplies last, eBay seller Quick Ship Electronics has the open-box Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus (Verizon) for just $500.

The “open-box” designation here means the packaging might be a little scuffed up, but the phone itself should be in mint condition, with all original accessories included. (That said, whether or not the phone has actually been used is unclear.) There’s a one-year warranty provided — from the seller, not from Samsung. For what it’s worth, Quick Ship Electronics has a 99.7% positive feedback rating from over 300,000 (!) buyers.

Any way you look at it, that’s an amazing price for a flagship phone that’s barely a year old. However, it’s locked to Verizon, and I’m not sure what unlock options are available (if any).

If you’re looking for more carrier choices, you can get an unlocked Galaxy S20 Plus from Back Market for $550. It’s in “very good” condition and also comes with a 12-month seller warranty.
