‘Nadiya Bakes’ Recipes: How to Make the Food on the Netflix Show

Netflix’s Nadiya Bakes is one of the sweetest baking shows to ever be made. The show is just the latest and greatest project from Great British Baking Show winner Nadiya Hussain. Unlike other shows, Nadiya focuses primarily on her first love, baking. Each show is packed with baking tips, waves of inspiration, and truly scrumptious looking treats.

However Nadiya Hussain wants viewers to do more than just watch her bake on Nadiya Bakes. Unlike The Great British Baking Show, Nadiya Bakes is a bonafide cooking show. So the recipes Nadiya shows off are intended to be recreated at home.

Did your Nadiya Bakes binge leave you jonesing for Nadiya’s Strawberry Shortcake Cupcakes? Dying to try her Pepperoni Pull Apart or Scone Pizza? The good news is it’s easy to find the recipes from Netflix’s Nadiya Bakes online. The bad news is you might need to do a little oven temperature conversion to make the British recipes work in a Yankee kitchen.

Here’s everything you need to know about the recipes on Nadiya Bakes.

NADIYA BAKES RECIPES: HOW CAN YOU MAKE THE CAKES ON THE NETFLIX SHOW?

Great news! All of the recipes that Nadiya Hussain shows off in her new Netflix show Nadiya Bakes are online for free. The show originally aired last year on the BBC and you can find Nadiya Bakes recipes here on the official BBC website for the program.

Note that because these are written for British bakers, there are bound to be a few ingredients that are tough to find stateside. However it’s easy enough to make substitutions or even your own version of the British ingredient.

Fun fact: you can make your own caster sugar by just pulsing your plain American granulated sugar in a food processor a few times. That’s all caster sugar is! Slightly small sugar!

However the measurements might have you slightly more tripped up…

HOW TO CONVERT CELSIUS TEMPERATURES TO FAHRENHEIT FOR BAKING (°c to °f)

If you want to do math — and I don’t know, you might — this is the equation to convert temperature back and forth:

(32°F − 32) × 5/9 = 0°C

If that is too daunting, just use Google to instantly convert temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit.

And if you still want us to do the work for you, consider that Nadiya’s cupcake recipe that asks for you to bake at 180°c-160°c converts to about 350°f-325°f in an American oven.

Furthermore, a recipe closer to 190°c is about 375°f, while 200°c is a bit under 400°f.

Of course oven temps vary by model, so invest in an oven thermometer (maybe with Celsius readings alongside Fahrenheit??)

HOW TO CONVERT BRITISH BAKING MEASUREMENTS TO AMERICAN MEASUREMENTS

Stymied by Nadiya’s call for ounces and grams and not cups or teaspoons? Well, the good news is you have two hacks to this measurement conundrum.

One, you can refer to a baking conversion chart. Of course, you might have to do additional math to get the precise measurement called for, but this should be a good resource.

The other big kitchen hack? Invest in a digital scale. Hardcore bakers already know that baking with a scale is far easier and more accurate than measuring by sight. Better yet, most scales offer measurements in grams and ounces.

So there you have it! Everything you need to go from watching Nadiya Bakes on Netflix to baking her amazing treats.
