‘The ball was for me, motherf*****!’: Pitchside mics catch Bruno Fernandes jokingly telling Scott McTominay that Marcus Rashford’s pass was meant for HIM during celebrations after he slammed home Manchester United’s winner against West Ham
Super sub Scott McTominay was Manchester United’s matchwinner on Tuesday night but one of his team-mates joked to him in no uncertain manner that he should have got the glory instead.
McTominay scored the only goal of the game as the Red Devils edged past West Ham in their FA Cup fifth-round clash after extra-time.
The midfielder volleyed home on the run after a lovely lay-off by Marcus Rashford in the 97th minute of the tie.

And as McTominay wheeled away in celebration at Old Trafford he was quickly congratulated by his team-mates.
As he received high-fives, Rashford could be heard telling him ‘brilliant’ but it was Bruno Fernandes’ light-hearted comment that caught the eye.
The Portuguese playmaker could be heard telling the goalscorer in a light-hearted manner: ‘Hey, the ball was for me motherf*****!’
As Rashford played the ball back for McTominay to run on to, Fernandes could be seen just a few yards away calling for the ball too. Despite not receiving the pass, Fernandes would be delighted at McTominay’s finish.
The goal was McTominay’s seventh of the season and his third in the last seven days, having scored against Southampton and Everton in the Premier League.
McTominay has now scored in each of his last three games – including this header vs Everton
Speaking post-match United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised the 24-year-old’s recent goalscoring knack in what is already a season-best tally for him.
‘Scott’s a clinical striker of the ball. He used to play as a striker, we know that, and he finishes with authority,’ he told MUTV.
‘Like, ‘bang’, finish. No messing about. No safety. That’s something we’ve got to learn from.
‘For a defensive midfielder, we’ll have to unleash him and release him forward because he’s a goal threat in the box and he’s got a good strike on him.’
United will find out their FA Cup fate on Thursday night when the sixth-round draw takes place.
