Piers Morgan ripped apart by Mesut Ozil after Arsenal transfer exit

Former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has ripped into avid Gunners fan Piers Morgan following his move to Turkish side Fenerbahce. The midfielder was frozen out of Mikel Arteta’s plans and agreed to terminate his contract last week.

Ozil came under fire for a series of lacklustre performances during his time in north London and Morgan fired shots upon the German’s departure.

“Loved @MesutOzil1088 when he first came to Arsenal,” the Good Morning Britain host tweeted.

“World class player with a sublime natural talent. Now I can’t wait to see the back of the lazy manipulative £350,000-a-week wastrel.

“You could have been a club legend, Mesut – but you just couldn’t be bothered. Bye.”

Ozil has today hit back at Morgan and tweeted a picture of himself holding toilet roll and a mug with the TV presenter’s face on.

He tweeted: “Piers, I took this with me from London to Istanbul to remind me of you! Although you probably knew that already before. #PoopOnPiers @piersmorgan.”

The Twitter outburst earlier this month was not the only time Morgan has been publically crirtical of Ozil.

The 55-year-old also offered to help the former Real Madrid star pack his bags at the Emirates Stadium.

“Ozil’s most impressive performance this season was giving me a whack on Twitter, which I’m very pleased for him,” he said in Decemeber.

“He got all his likes and retweets and was doubtless a hero for the Arsenal faithful who want to stand by him.

“We should have got rid of Ozil ages ago. He stopped playing in big games three years ago.

“I think it was after he signed his big deal after (Alexis) Sanchez moved to Manchester United and we were desperate to keep Ozil.

“He certainly got this enormous amount of money and stopped playing and I agree with Arteta.

“Why would you pick someone who doesn’t give 100 per cent? But no one would buy Ozil or take on those wages, that’s the bottom line.”

“The fact he couldn’t even make the Premier League squad tells you that behind the scenes that really bad stuff has been going down.

“Ozil can talk a good game and he can tweet a good game and can play a good game with the fans who are gullible enough to believe it but I would get him out of there as fast as possible.

“I would drive him to an airport to anywhere that would take him.

“As long as he’s sitting there earning that kind of money, the most amount of money of any player in the squad, and he can’t even get in the squad – that’s a problem.”
