Vikings season 6: Does Ragnar return in season 6 of Vikings?

Why did Travis Fimmel leave Vikings?

Travis Fimmel left Vikings in 2017 as his character’s journey had simply come to an end.

He told Entertainment Weekly: “I was meant to die at the end of the first year.

“I ended up staying around for three more.”

As a result, the actor spoke about how grateful he was to appear in the television series and was happy to leave.

He added: “I was meant to be doing another movie before Vikings came on.

“Had to go and live in Ireland and play in the mud. It was great. It’s been so beneficial to me. I miss the people tremendously.”

Fimmel went on to star in the film Lean on Pete as Ray Thompson.

In 2019 alone he has appeared in the American heist thriller film Finding Steve McQueen and the Australian War film called Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan.

He also starred in the film Dreamland this year alongside Margot Robbie, Kerry Condon and Finn Cole which is currently in post-production.

Fimmel recently starred in the HBO series Raised by Wolves as Marcus, alongside Amanda Colin and Matias Varela.

Before Vikings, Fimmel had appeared in the films Maggie’s Plan, Supremacy and The Experiment.

His previous television roles include Tarzan and Rocky Point.

Vikings is streaming on Amazon Prime now
