Money Heist season 5 theories: Berlin star confirms Professor reunion with Instagram snap

Spanish star Álvaro Morte has shared a new update on Instagram which could be teasing an unexpected reunion in the next season of Money Heist. With co-star Pedro Alonso back on set for the popular Netflix series, could Berlin be brought back from the dead?

The latest Instagram update from the set of Money Heist may have confirmed Pedro Alonso’s Berlin will once again feature in the upcoming fifth season.

Series lead Álvaro Morte took to social media this week to post a new selfie of himself alongside his long-running co-star, Pedro Alonso.

The pair are known for portraying criminal mastermind The Professor and his older brother and second-in-command Andrés de Fonollosa, better known as Berlin.

Both characters have been mainstays in the successful international thriller since the first part debuted on Netflix in 2017.

However, Berlin’s role in the series has been sparse since he sacrificed to guarantee his teammates’ escape at the end of Part Two.

He has since appeared in flashbacks throughout the second half of the show, which have detailed more about his earlier life as a professional jewel thief.

Morte’s new post suggests season five could take a similar direction and bring back Berlin to reveal more about what happened between the two brothers before the heists took place.

The actor showed his appreciation for his co-star, captioning the picture: “La familia… The family.”

Thankfully, filming was able to continue last year and is hoped to be on track in time for a summer 2021 release for Part Five.

During the extended wait for the final ten episodes of Money Heist, fans have been enjoying a range of new updates from the cast and crew from behind-the-scenes.

Over on Pedro Alonso’s Instagram page, the star also released a new post of himself and Morte hanging out with each other.

The series certainly hasn’t been the same since Berlin was killed off, and many fans have been missing their complex sibling dynamic during The Professor’s second heist.

Still, the two appeared together several times in flashback scenes, which explored more of Berlin’s terminal illness as well as his marriage to wife Tatiana (Diana Gómez).

With the release of Money Heist some months away, viewers are hoping for a similar case in season five.

Indeed, Berlin’s involvement in last year’s fourth season had already been confirmed in a trailer for the series, so it’s very possible the same will happen ahead of the release of Part Five.

Money Heist Part 4 is available to stream on Netflix.
