Khabib Nurmagomedov sends brutal message to Conor McGregor after Dustin Poirier defeat

Khabib Nurmagomedov has sent a brutal message to longtime rival Conor McGregor after his shocking defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. The Diamond knocked out his opponent in the second round at the event on Fight Island.

The UFC lightweight fighter was not impressed with McGregor and thinks he knows why the Notorious lost.

He claims sparring with people that were not of a high enough calibre cost him in his fight against Poirier.

He tweeted: “This is what happens, when you change your team, leave the sparring partners who made you a champion and sparring with little kids, far away from reality.”

McGregor and Khabib fought back at UFC 229 in October 2018.

Khabib won by submission and the event soon erupted into chaos, resulting in a post-fight brawl.

The 32-year-old has no plans to return to the Octagon any time soon though.

He said: £I don’t even have any plans for the UFC in the near future. I don’t have any thoughts about preparing for the fight.”

When quizzed on Khabib’s latest comments at the UFC 257 press conference, UFC president Dana White was interrupted by McGregor though.

The Notorious simply said: “We’ll get him.”

McGregor has confirmed he will fight again in UFC after suffering just his third defeat in the sport.

He said: “You know, it’s hard to overcome inactivity over long periods of time, the leg kicks were good, the leg was dead.

“I just wasn’t as comfortable as I needed to be. It’s the inactivity and that’s it, Dustin is some fighter.

“You’re in here and you put in the time, I will dust it off and come back and that’s what I will do.

“Of course, I need activity guys come on. You don’t get away with being inactive in this business and that’s the way it is.

“I am gutted, I put so much work in. Well done Dustin.

“I am proud, I would have liked to have represented my team a bit better but we will get together, I’m going to go home to my kids and just chill and regroup.”
