Dustin Poirier reveals he would like to fight Conor McGregor in TRILOGY bout after knockout victory

Dustin Poirier reveals he would like to fight Conor McGregor in TRILOGY bout after sensational knockout victory at UFC 257… and American takes aim at Nate Diaz for talking s*** online while ruling out fight with Michael Chandler

Dustin Poirier says he would like to fight Conor McGregor for a third time after the American pulled off the performance of his career to knockout the Irishman on Saturday night.

Poirier gained revenge to losing to the Irishman seven years ago by pulling off a brilliant second-round knockout-victory at UFC Fight Island, sending shockwaves through the lightweight division.

The Diamond noted afterwards how he did not feel McGregor’s ‘aura’ in the octagon on this occasion and also addressed the question of who he will fight next, admitting he’s always ‘wanted to whip Nate Diaz’s a**.’

‘I felt his presence less, his aura less – I just saw another fighter tonight,’ Poirier said in his post-fight press conference.

‘I think the first time I was kind of a deer in the headlights, you could say. This time I was just fighting another man. Another man who bleeds just like me. And I knew that.

‘He hurt me with the left hand. Nothing went, but he flashed me good.

‘If he would have pressured and I would have gotten hit again, I think I would have been really hurt.’

When asked on what he wants to do yet, the 32-year-old insisted a trilogy fight with McGregor did appeal to him but ruled out a fight with Michael Chandler.

‘A rematch with Conor interests me,’ Poirier said.

‘Always wanted to whip Nate Diaz’s a**. That interests me. I’m sure something will make sense. But just now, I don’t know.

Michael Chandler beat Dan Hooker at UFC 257 but Poirier is not interested in a fight

Poirier said he would like to fight Nate Diaz (L) but ruled out a bout with Michael Chandler (R)

‘Me and Conor are 1-1. Nate Diaz got away and likes to talk a lot of s*** online.’

‘I can guarantee I’m not fighting Michael Chandler. They can do whatever they want with the division.

Chandler knocked-out Dan Hooker in the first round of their fight in UFC 257 – the bout which took place before the main event between Poirier and McGregor.
